Reflective Blog Post

This course was the last course to complete my Masters Degree in Education, and it has by far probably been the hardest for me. Throughout my education and other technology classes, I have always expressed how tech unsavvy I am. I don’t consider myself someone who is too old to understand technology, but it just seems to be a weakness that I have. I don’t even have Twitter, Instagram, Venmo, Tik Tok, or Uber accounts. In this course, for example, I learned the thought process and the different scenarios to consider when designing successful apps/websites such as: Twitter, Uber, Ticketmaster, and Youtube. Even after watching and rewatching the videos that were explaining how the system was designed, I still struggle with understanding those specific designs and how they completed it. However, one thing that I did notice, however, is how similar it is when designing a lesson or unit plan. I already do backwards planning when completing my Unit and Lesson plans, but one thing that I found important and will keep is always keeping in mind possible scenarios that may arise. I believe that is one way I can guarantee that I can design a fully, wholesome unit/lesson, just like I feel the designs we saw are. Additionally, I will also have a more technological mindset when designing lesions like I applied it here for this course with the project proposal. My goal will be incorporating technology in different ways and for students to also use it in creative ways since, in my opinion, the future of education will be technology. Keeping this in mind, I still don’t consider myself to be an expert, especially after attempting to do the app in PowerApps in this Final project. Therefore, I still need to continue educating myself in the different technologic opportunities that I can incorporate into my classroom with my students. Technology continues to evolve in rapid and changing ways, so, I cannot stay stuck in old technology but continue incorporating the new technology that continues to arise. The best/easiest way to do this is to continuously research professional development opportunities on this topic to take and to keep myself up to date as much as I can.

The Triple E Framework

Image Source:  tripleeframework.com Self evaluation? It is definitely one of the hardest things for me to do. I always start the school year, telling my students that talking about myself is something I truly dislike to do, but since I want to know more of them, I always share about me first. With that same uneasiness that I begin my school year, I will attempt to self evaluate myself on where I believe I would stand under the Triple E Framework Model .    Before I do that, however, let’s understand a little bit more of what it is. What is it? It is a useful framework that is used to measure the degree to which the technology in a lesson is helping students meet the learning goals. Differently than in other frameworks, Triple E’s sole focus is on the learning goals and not the specific technology tools. The 3 E’s Engagement Engaging is not just capturing interest with technology but actually engaging them actively in the content. It should include ...

Reflections

As someone who is was not very technologically inclined, I am surprised how much time I have actually invested in technology these past few weeks.  I have mentioned before that educating myself with technology in relation to education has been super important for me because of the environment that we are living in.  Technology is literally taking over our lives in so many different forms and with that, it is going to eventually take over in education as well.  Being prepared for that and for my students is really important and essential if I want to be an effective educator.  With technology evolving, learning is also evolving, and technology is part of that evolution as well.  It is my responsibility to adapt myself to my teaching environment and students and not leave them behind. Change Reflecting on everything that I have worked on these past few weeks, there has definitely been a lot of changes in my relationship with technology, especially in relation to ...

Digital Maps

Apps?  When did these first come out?  I try to remember when exactly the first App or its concept first began, however, I can’t seem to pinpoint it.  Part of the reason for this, I believe, is because I have never really been a trend follower and much less in the technology field.  When everyone was getting their own flip phone at my age, I did not even get a phone.  When everyone began getting the sidekick, I was barely getting my first flip phone.  When everyone got their first Iphone, I was getting my first Blackberry.  Don’t get me wrong!  It is not that I am against technology; it just takes me a while to like things.  You can see that kind of reflected in the digital map below.  Take a look and you will see that I don’t even have the popular Social Media accounts like Twitter , Instagram , or Tik Tok !
